Mindful Tasting Journey
Step-by-Step Self-Guided Experience
Welcome to our Mindful Drinking Self-Guided Tasting Experience
Today, we’re not just drinking beer — we’re savoring it. The goal is to fully experience each pour, using mindfulness techniques to focus on the flavors, aromas, and textures. This page will guide you through how to explore and enjoy them mindfully. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us!
Ready? Let’s begin!
Start Here When You have Your Flight
Step 1: Pause & Prepare
Hold up your first glass and take a moment to breathe. Notice the color of the beer and the way it catches the light. Think about the journey this beer has taken—from grains to glass. What do you notice? Checkout the color, foam, bubbles and record your first impressions.
Step 2: Sense & Smell
Bring the glass to your nose and take a deep inhale. What aromas stand out? Floral, fruity, malty, or earthy? Take a moment to connect with the scent and record what you notice.
Step 3: Sip
Take your first sip and hold it in your mouth for a moment. Focus on the flavors—sweetness, bitterness, acidity, or spice. How do the flavors evolve as you taste?
Step 4: Savor
Swallow, and think about the finish. Does the flavor linger, or does it disappear quickly? Take another sip when you’re ready and focus on the same elements. How does the flavor evolve
Step 5: Record & Reflect
Think about how this beer makes you feel. Does it remind you of anything? What stands out most about this beer? Write down your thoughts or simply take a mental note. What foods might you pair with this beer? Where or during what activities might you enjoy this beer flavor most?
Now, repeat and enjoy this process for the rest of your flight!
Repeat step 1 – 5 for each of the beers in your Hop Flight.
Things to keep in mind:
- How does the second/third beer compare to the first/second?
- What’s different/what might be similar?
- How is the “mood” of this beer different or unique?
- Which of the three beers did you enjoy the most and for what reasons?
- For each beers think about if you enjoyed it enough to: purchase a pint, buy some to take home, or recommend it to a friend.
